Hello everyone!

I am a builder on the survival server, pretty much all I do it build and host events. My personal project is known as ProjectAbyss, which you can check out at /warp abyss! One thing that has always been an issue however when building is that people are able to very easily cheat through maps that I make, and it is very difficult to stop them. They can use /fly, /speed, /nv, /heal, /v, /back, it makes it hard to make the events fair and balanced, which is especially frustrating when the events have big prizes like ssv's or cubits.

In order to counter this, we have to sacrifice minigame ideas and concepts that would be super fun and instead settle on more closed-in mazes and stuff. I would like to propose that parties be able to toggle perks, especially /fly, and even pvp, so that we can host a wider range of minigames. The ability to do this would make mini-games fairer among the community, and this would greatly improve the building ability and possibilities for both builders and event hosts who are trying to make a fun community event.

I know that people fear that being able to toggle /fly is dangerous, because people will fall from the sky and die. Or they will be killed inside claims when the pvp is turned on, so I have a few solutions, and maybe one of them would work. I would like to propose that these perms be toggle-able, but with a visible timer. After the party owner toggles it, it takes a bit for it to take effect. Players would be able to teleport out or walk/fly out of the area before they lose their ability to fly, or pvp in the area is activated. When you enter an area, that has /fly turned off, you will have a timer before your ability to fly is disabled. so you won't just fall from the sky. People also believe that all claims are gonna have the ability to fly turned off, when in reality only a very small number of parties are going to have this turned off, and likely it will only be when an event is happening, because there is no advantage to keeping it turned off 24/7. The likely hood of flying around and running into one of these areas would be very small, and a freak occurrence. Perhaps the ability to fly could also be lost, but fall damage would be negated for a few seconds so you would not die when it is lost.

Another solution would be to have these perms toggle-able for only a small amount of time. Players, for instance, can only toggle /fly off for a small period of time, maybe a few hours, or until a reset occurs, after which it resets. This way the amount of claims that have /fly off would drop severely, as players are not gonna keep toggling it multiple times a day without a good reason. This would allow for players to be able to still host events, or just make cool maps and builds in general, without having to compromise the structure of their designs.

Maybe it could be an item or ability that you have to buy to use either with cubits or mana or money, making it even more unlikely that people will be just randomly turning it on and hindering flight, and instead only making it valuable/possible to people who are further along in the game (and not the one day quit players) and helping them to create large scale builds and maps/warps for the community to use.

Finally, if none of these abilities can be toggle-able, it would still be great if there was a log of players using commands on your claim, to catch cheaters. If someone does /back or /fly or anything else, then it can be seen by the hosts to better deal with. This is not a great solution imo, and people will still cheat, but it will help.

Having the capability to toggle these abilities on claims would be great for large-scale map builders, event hosts, community warp owners, role play players who, for instance, might want towns without /fly, and more! Not to mention, the community events that they host will help and be fun for everyone!

Very yes, As a builder this would help me no end, for minigames, competitions etc. Also encourages me to do them more.
Great idea!

+1 I don't play on survival; however, I do see how this could be helpful!

I am a big fan of the survival minigames you guys make and i can say with certainty this is an awful idea. The /fly part, if it can, will be abused. What if someone was claim a ring of chunks in a populated area e.g. the middle and turned /fly off every couple hours (to not mention it's incredibly easy to make a macro do that for you)? It's enabling a feature thats barely used at the cost of game breaking abuse.

Hello Stan, it seems as though you did not fully read my post, which explains solutions to this, and why it is unlikely to happen, please take another look at it, ty! c:

(Aside from what I wrote earlier in my first post, it would also be impossible for anyone to claim a ring around a large enough area to be an annoyance due to border claiming rules, and if they somehow were able to claim a large ring around the map, it would only be a very thin line, in which case the timer option I proposed would solve it. People could also already build a ring around the map and make a huge wall so players could not pass without fly, but they don’t, so the idea that people would abuse it already seems faulty to me. You would have to be a huge party with a lot of claims and Elite ranked players to even attempt it, so trying to find that many elites who would be willing to risk breaking a rule to waste all of their build claims just to make a wall to annoy people seems like a daunting task. There could be a rule implemented that you cannot do this as well, simply say that you cannot use the function to purposely hinder flight for passing players. Lot of solutions that could very easily be added which would improve our community)

Thank you for your post, and I hope that I was able to address your concerns! I know that you think that it is a small and rarely used function, and while it is true that most players will not use it in their claims, many players will use it in the events in which a large part of the community experiences, one of my events had 45 people! So a lot of people benefit c:
