While playing parkour, I noticed homophobic, transphobic, and ableist messages. Has anyone else experienced this? Also mods, I would like to know if you tolerate this stuff? I think this is a severe issue and would recommend doing more to make sure your community isn't homophobic. A few others and I were the only ones standing up while the mods did nothing.
Mods do plenty we also do absolutely not tolerate Homophobic behaviour, I have never interacted with a group of people before like the Manacube staff team who cares more about gay rights and activism and it has taught me lots. However we do need proof for all bans and mutes, provide the proof and they will be warned or muted. Also using /ignore name for trolls is essential as they only look to incite and anger people. People believe in their ideals and stand up for them, which is great but thats easy to do especially through a keyboard. Blocking trolls means they don't get the attention or reaction they want and means it will happen less. Being a keyboard warrior is small, its great to stand up for your beliefs but use tools available to you to ensure people who look to anger others and gain a reaction do not "win" or get their "reward".
Providing proof and ignoring these type of people is key to beating them as it means they get nothing out of the encounter. Also whilst Homophobic comments are not allowed on Manacube many people get upset about many types of issues and a lot of this boils down to people disagreeing with others. Disagreement is fine as long as it is polite, respectful and potentially constructive, this particularly pertains to Political discussion on Manacube. Where people will harass and beat down others purely because they have a different political ideology or viewpoint from their own. Also you will notice that these types of people generally range from Noob - to Regular which can take no less then 10-30minutes to obtain meaning that these people are not our core demographic and certainly means our community is not filled with hardcore homophobes or racists.
Use the tools to ensure trolls get punished and ignore them so they don't get what they seek by calling on controversial topics to anger people.
