Jump Name: TrainingCourse
Username: joshi77
Plot ID: -22;136 use /plot teleport -22;136 to get to the plot.
Difficulty: Easy (but read note below)
Number of jumps: Probably more than 40

Short description: Map is underground, purpose is to teach new players the basics, but not everything, because I want this map to be categorized "Easy" and not anything else. "Easy" has requirements like 20 - 40 jumps, but, don't care, it's still easy. Map is supposed to be entertaining, that includes when I change the area where the player has to go, to actually go through the entire area of the map.
Map is not allowed to have too much variety, everything that gets introduced has to be explained, otherwise the purpose of "tutorial" gets destroyed, but simple blocks like ice or something, are not ment with that.

The lighting in this map is bugged due to World Edit but a mod can fix it, I guess.

When I played around the Parkour server, I noticed that there are jumps where different blocks that just appear and all that, and that new players can have issues with that. They would probably retry over and over until they make the jump, but what I am trying with this "TrainingCourse", is that the new players can make it at the first try.
This "TrainingCourse" is supposed to teach new players the basics, but maybe even others can learn something new in it. The map parkour is based around learning and then trying to go through the "stage" of what was introduced.

This "TrainingCourse" acts as a tutorial, and was my initial purpose with the previous map I tried to submit, however at the previous one I didn't like the theme anymore and just put a ship there.

It was not possible to do a tutorial with everything, without having some "space" or "pause" between the jumps, that's why I call it "TrainingCourse" instead.

The map actually has multiple "sub-themes" but is based on a "theme" that I call Jump Facility. I gave the map a theme, as well as a little bit of story. It's an underground facility, inspired and based from Portal and Black Mesa from Half-Life. It's a custom theme. The theme and the purpose of the map impacts the entire parkour and I wish the requirements wouldn't be bothering to change the parkour. The rooms act as some sort of test chamber.

I've also put some details around the map, but I mostly focused on the parkour.

JUST NOTE: The map is underground, but all the parkour is above Y: 35, that means it won't teleport the player back. I have used Y: 35 to my advantage to make anything below Y: 35 go into an abyss.

All areas that the player can leave should have been sealed off carefully with barriers or "walls".

At the beginning there's some sort of "playground", those just show how far a player can jump and if they have to sprint or not. Then it shows the player some examples of what could appear in a jump and run, which I then added near the middle end of the map.

The map goes probably over 40 jumps if I counted correctly, however the difficulty has to be Easy. First of all, every difficult jump, which is just one, has a complete description on how it can be done, with support to gain momentum, easily. I've tested it and it works very fine.
And this is supposed to be a jump for newbies, and not a jump like all else, however, because of the "requirements" for parkours, I couldn't do much more, that's why it's just like that now.

Also, I read there are "Message Triggers", how do I make them? These signs are getting out of hand at some point.

I really like the concept, and I think this could be really helpful to new players. The only thing I could wish for is slightly better lighting.

What is your Brightness setting set to, so that I can compare?

The end part of the map is supposed to have no light at all, only light sources allowed at the end part is something like redstone torches.

I had my pc and minecraft brightness at max lol, that makes more sense though I thought that you might just have forgotten to light that last bit. I think the only bits that need light were a slime jump somewhere and a room with some ladders or somthing.

I added light at the bridge near the end, otherwise I do not see another area for light. There might be areas for light but there's also some "wrong" light caused by World Edit which makes it difficult for me to see how the light that I add looks like at the end, if the "wrong" light from World Edit is still there.

The slime platform has enough light so that the player can see it, the platform they have to jump on has light as well, unless it is bugged.

The conveyor belt area is supposed to have the light like that.

The light at the railing area, I could find it questionable.

The jump track areas should all be light up enough. With world edit you can manipulate the light even more, and I would have done that if I would have had permissions to it, so someone else that has permissions to it should do it then, I can add light blocks, then it would be too much light blocks at a certain area.

The cave has lighting, but it seems to be cut off by World Edit light.

I manually removed a bugged light now at the railing area and added light where it wouldn't have enough light.

I can tell you put a lot of work into this, and I commend you for that, but I don't think it will be accepted. There is a theme, but I believe there are already some maps based around a facility. I like the idea of having a training course of sorts, but I don't think this was the best way to do it. I love the map, and if this were submitted in like 2019 I think it would be great, but times have changed. The parkour you had in this is very basic and kind of bland. I would have liked to see you actually use the blocks you were showing off in the facility to make the jumps more diverse. I'm on right now if you want me to elaborate but for now -1.

I used to slowly add more blocks that I showed at the beginning of the map and added now one more that I think would be interesting and funny.

The part where I added the cobwebs, made the jump already more different and I think more interesting.

I also tried to add an anvil at a certain place, but I noticed that it knocked me away, so I had to remove it, due to version incompatibility or anti-cheat or whatever.

Then I tried to replace it with chests, but then it automatically makes you go on top of it for that jump, and if I place two on-top of eachother, I get the impression that someone might think that they are supposed to avoid to jump onto there and jump differently, and for this "Easy" jump, I then left it away.

However, I changed the jumps near the end, where the fences are, with a block that I wanted to add to point something out, so I added stairs now as well.

At the area where I show blocks that could appear in a parkour, I do indeed mention that they're just there to give the player an example, not that they are guaranteed to appear into the jump. Though I can agree that, if I would be showing some of these blocks, that I should make them appear in the parkour, which I changed now a bit more.

I think I was able to combine the stairs in a clever way, with a checkpoint. I noticed that this area could be a place where the players might fall down more than at other places, that I placed another checkpoint so that they can do it easier.

I've also changed the area where the chests appear.

I made sure that the "theme" that I have wouldn't be one that appeared often and just checked the maps that are labeled under "facility", but they're not even close to what my theme is.

Around the end of the map, it now changes even more. But again, this is ment for beginners. The "basic part" where I mix up the 3 blocks and 4 block jumps, appears only once and then other blocks get introduced.

That's what I ment with "the requirements griefing the intention of the parkour", I rather not add another block in the part where only normal blocks are allowed to be placed, to keep it normal for that part.

The requirements limit the amount of jumps for a difficulty and want variety blocks, and I wanna maintain this "tutorial" parts for this parkour map, that it makes things not really that simple, but maybe I just found a way to add a few more things.

Hello,

I regret to inform you that your map is REJECTED. BUT HEAR ME OUT.

The THEME of your map is unoriginal, the build of your map is unoriginal with there being many cave maps, The idea of a jump course has been done with Test Facility but this is alot different. Sadly this isn't a type of map that we accept.

The BUILD of your map is a good. I think the outside has some fun detail and the inside matches what you are going for.

The PARKOUR doesn't fit toward a difficulty has it progresses into all different ones. We really have to have maps be placed into each difficulty. The map is lacking some variance through, with many of the jumps jut being regular jumps.

I wanted to note that I can tell you put so much work into this and it turned out very nicely, just doesn't fit into the maps we have on ManaCube. I do think this is a nice way to learn new maps so you can always advertise your plot to get new players to learn through it, but sadly we can't make it an offical map.

Thank you for taking the time to create a map, I hope to see more submissions from you in the future.
If you have any questions feel free to reach out to me on discord at Elly#5555
