/speed doesn't work

I just bought /speed, and when I try to use it it doesn't work. The server says that my speed has been changed, but whenever I walk around I still move at normal speed. Any help?

It increases your speed by 1.8x

Might not be super noticable, but you are indeed running faster than the normal 1x speed

(Make sure to type /speed 10)
