How do I get coloured writing on signs?

Hey big noob here. I swear I saw another elite have coloured writing on his signs. How do I do that? (if I can)
this would also be a good thing to add to the wiki, if it is already there I wasn't able to find it

Below is an example of how to write color codes on signs. If you want it to be bold simply do color code then &l and the word. no spaces for the word after the code...
