How do I make water stay in places when I places it

I am trying to make a map but don't know how to place still water in the air

.//wand then left and right click, then do //set 8

You can also place signs around the water block so that it stops it from flowing.

There are a couple methods:

1. Use signs to block the water from flowing away
2. //wand --> //set 8 on the block you want to make it stay on
3. Place blocks around the water and //wand --> //cut OR //set 0 the blocks around the water
