On the subject of this post, i didn't gather alot new information, but the takeaway for me was the tip on villager trading.

Try breaking and replacing the spawners. Make sure they have grass to spawn on around the spawner as well.

This is out of date
The main differences now are the drops. But spawners also stack to 64 and you can only have 1 stack of each type of spawner per chunk
