what does mana do

im trying to figure out what mana does and if it is like money but in mana instead of dollars. can someone help me how it works

Hey Ryfi, you can use mana to upgrade your island, this can allow you to place more spawners and hoppers, increase crop growth speed, increase mob loot and more! Use /is upgrade or open the island menu, click the comparator to open settings then click the anvil
