Unfortunately, you're incorrect. It's hard-coded into Java edition to connect to 25565. ManaCube has proxy servers for their domains that redirect server connect requests from 25565 to whatever the actual internal port number of the server is. So no, you don't need it since ManaCube's proxy and waterfall configuration is setup correctly, but he asked for the port and I gave him the port.
