So I have a few ideas that I think would make Islands even better than it already is and I will most likely add to this list as the week goes on before the reset
Adds a database of player heads for decoration.
Alpha, Rage & Viper are all known to not work on Islands.
Tools with "Telepathy" and the vanilla enchantment "Silk Touch" will ignore the full data value of blocks with an extended data value IE: stone_slab (ID: 44) will return a stone_slab (ID:44) but a stone_brick_slab (ID: 44:5) will also return a stone_slab (ID: 44) when it should return stone_brick_slab (ID: 44:5). The same thing happens with coloured items like stained glass or wool or different types of wood.
If you do /silver help and hover over the book to see how to earn silver you will be shown a lot of ways to earn silver but only the pumpkins give silver from the crops option. The Wheat, Melon and Beetroot options don't give any silver.
Part of updating to 1.13 includes the bad optimization for servers that 1.13 has as well as 0 tick farming which puts a lot of lag on the server. I know that a lot of people will like to create 0 tick farms, especially on a large scale (I am definitely one of those people) but for the sake of the server, I think they should be nerfed or disabled because of the lag they will cause.
I don't mean that redstone should be disabled completely or 0 ticking pistons and clocks because on a small scale they aren't very bad. I'm not sure what the best way to solve it would be but I can see it causing a lot of lag if it isn't addressed.
I've played for a little bit of time on Atlas and think that the spawner stacking that they have is pretty cool! I'm not sure how helpful it really is for lag or how OP and unbalanced it could make things but I think it could be a cool addition to Islands!
I'd like for us to be able to make MCMMO brewing more automatic. It would make it so much more fun if we could use hoppers and setup brewing systems to increase our brewing skill.
The current boss is relatively easy with a few friends and after you have done it a few times it's pretty boring. The rewards you get from the chest aren't very good, especially if you are an older player on the server.
The other thing I would like to see is some sort of reward for players who helped with the boss fight.
- Worldedit fixes and features
WorldEdit can have problems at times. If you try to use it with a block like concrete that has an extended data value then it can be buggy. Any blocks with an extended data value of 10 or more won't work and if you try to replace a block with an extended data value to another block with an extended data value then it won't work.
IE: /set 251:7 (grey_concrete) will work but /set 251:14 (red_concrete) will return "not a valid block"
IE: select an area with 251:1 (orange_concrete) and do /replace 251:1 251:3 (replaces orange concrete with light blue conrete) and it will return "Please do not advertise other websites or IP adresses."
I would also like to see other commands be added. My biggest one being /stack and I know that other people have commands they would like to be added.
There also seems to be a bit of a problem when you /set or /replace blocks that emit a light level. When you place a lot of them it seems to either heavily lag or crash the server.
IE: Glowstone blocks, when used with /set or /replace, will lag the server if you place 750+ of them. Sea lanterns seem to be worse for some reason with a max of about 400 before they start to cause TPS issues. Yes, I know this because I have caused server crashes by doing this by accident.
Another thing that is known for crashing the server is selecting 1 point at someone's Island and another at someone elses island then trying to execute the /set or /replace command. The islands are most likely thousands of blocks apart and when the server tries to process the command it ends up crashing it. I have only made this mistake once thankfully!
- Fix the silver exploit and let people instamine like on prison
So there's a silver glitch, I'm not going to say how to do it but if you are an admin reading this then I'd imagine you know about it. This needs to be fixed. We can't start a new season and have it still be a thing or it will end up being used. I'm guessing the fact that if we mine too fast then we get kicked was a way to temporarily solve this but it needs to be properly solved. Like check that the block has been mined server-side before adding it to the count for the silver or register that the player is actually cooped or owns/belongs to the island before activating the counter for the blocks mined.
IE: If the block hasn't been mined server-side then don't add 1 to the counter and add a cooldown for 5 seconds before checking again. Does the player belong to this island or are they allowed to break blocks on the island? If not then disable the block/crop harvesting silver gaining counters.
- Higher chunk loading area
I know it's a bit of a longshot but a higher default chunk loaded area would be nice. I know how laggy it can be especially if new chunks are being generated but if it's possible then it would be nice to have!
I know that when I started playing Islands it was so confusing to begin with. If it wasn't for people like Germandude2 and Usedtobeathletic helping me out with things in the beginning then I probably wouldn't have stayed around.
I know that there are a lot of new players that join that get put to spawn and don't know what to do. If it popped up on your screen saying "/warp tutorial to get started" when you first joined and it was an island where you could get an explanation that water hurts, rain does too but you can wear a helmet to protect you and that to start off you might want to try out fishing then doing /fish shop to sell the fish to earn some starter money then that would be very helpful and I think it would help more people stay on islands. Also to explain that they can buy and sell things in /shop and that they can get valuables in /silvershop and to do /silver help to learn how to earn silver. Just normal things like that written on signs on a tutorial island would be nice to have for new players.
- More items in /shop and /silvershop as well as an easier way to buy things in bulk
I would like to see more items for sale in /shop and /silvershop. I'd like for there to be more redstone components in /shop because I hate crafting them and I would rather be able to buy them. Other things like slime blocks, the different quartz blocks or ore blocks but also items like torches, ladders or signs. Pretty much things that are annoying to craft or that you might need right there instead of having to leave and craft them.
More things from the silver shop would be nice. Cheap water breathing potions for when you are newer and don't have the ability to get aquatic yet or something that I think would be really cool would be adding 0.1 cubits for like 10k silver or something. Just new helpful things. Also to bring the price of sponges and shulker boxes down or at least let us have shulker spawners so we can have shulker boxes.
Another thing I would like is something like "/buy <item> <amount>" so I can buy things quickly and more than 9 stacks. I've had to craft way too many slime blocks and it honestly annoys me so much having to buy the slimeballs 9 stacks at a time so I can get 1 stack of slime blocks.
I'll probably add more to this list as the week goes on and I get more suggestions from other people
Edit/Extension:
I would like to see more minions to be added like Slayers, Miners, Lumberjacks etc. The minions really add to the game and help out but they also seem to be balanced very well so I could see other minion types only improving on the game and making it more fun provided they are balanced and don't cause too much lag.
An increase in the amount of minions we can have placed would also be nice (maybe link it to the amount of armor stands we can have on our island or something?) since it can be annoying if we have multiple large farms and need multiple collection/selling areas. Also, it would be nice to be able to name and customize the minions with different outfits.
So I don't know much about it but it sounds like every time an inf chest is triggered to sell it will have to calculate the amount to sell based on the items inside it then calculate the tax amount from the value of the items inside and deduct it from the total before deleting the items and changing the players balance. That just sounds like more work for the server to me for something that's just doesn't make the game any more fun for everyone.
The other problem I have with it is that it sounds like it's going to make inf chests redundant because everyone will just use seller minions instead since they aren't taxed. I personally like using inf chests because I like to see the amount that it has made on the sign, it's easier to use, doesn't count as an entity whereas minions do so I'm not worried about it being deleted or delinking to chests like minions and I don't have to feed inf chests or worry about them running out of food. If an inf chest tax is introduced then I will just be using seller minions instead unless I know I would lose more than 10% of the income from using seller minions.
IE: 400 Iron Golem spawners (max amount of spawners on an island) + an inf chest that takes 10% tax of my profit
OR
395 Iron Golem spawners + 1 collector and 1 seller that doesn't take 10% of my profit because of a tax
If I make more money with the collector and seller minions then I can see myself using those instead. I don't see any point in using inf chests with an inf chest tax on things like cactus or sugarcane farms if sellers will get me more money.
If I am wrong and the inf chest tax is a completely different thing then please tell me and also if you know of any benefits to the tax then can you also tell me because I'd like to know more about it before the reset!
