what else can you do with cubits other than sell them to players

You can use those cubits and buy things from /buy. If you do /cubits spend [amount] (the amount must be greater or equal to 2 cubits or 2.00), you can make a coupon which you then use in the checkout section within the shop. 1 cubit is $1US and that will lower the overall cost of your checkout basket.
