serious question dude
how do you count shelves? does the top count? what about the floor?
how many shelves on are on this shelf? 4? 3? 2?
or what if its one of those box shelves that has a piece of thing on the bottom, then what?
the definition of a shelf is "a flat length of wood or other rigid material, attached to a wall or forming part of a piece of furniture, that provides a surface for the storage or display of objects.". Looking at the picture there would typically be 2 shelves possible. If the top of that drawing has space to hold objects then the picture above could be counted as 3 shelves. The floor is a floor, although it nearly fits the definition of a shelf, it is a floor space. when discussing said picture and describing an object on the floor u would label it a floor rather than a shelf which is why i believe it is 3 shelves. If said shelf had a slab on the very bottom, since it is attached to said shelf unit, it would be labeled as a shelf rather than a floor. without someone on the bottom is it merely a floor. Typically shelves are bare slabs with no sides so this could technically be labeled as a bookcase or bookshelf depending on what u choose to occupy the space with.
the true definition of a counter is "A counter is a piece of furniture. Counters consist of a countertop, a raised surface which can be used to place objects or serve food on them. Similar to a table, counters are typically raised platforms, but are often embedded into flooring as fixed installations." since the said platform is attached to a shelving unit, it presents itself as a shelf as well since counters are typically tabletops. Like i previously said as well, this could very much so not even be a shelving unit but a bookshelf/bookcase
there's clearly 2, for whoever said 3, i think the 3th one is the TOP, if you wanna consider the TOP as another Bookshelf, then yeah there's 3 shelves, as for the floor,,,,,, SMH
how can you count the top as a shelf ?? but not the bottom ?? during a earthquake, if you have glass on the top, it will fall AND BRAKE !! it wont break on the bottom as it is proteced by the sides !
