Hello!

I have seen many players asking questions related to how to make a town, how to make money, etc., and I think that I should finally write a guide for these questions that answers all the questions you could possibly have about Earth Towny!

Part 1: Joining/Creating a town/nation
Quite honestly, the wiki does a horrible job of showing what to do with joining a town and such. Yes, new players should join an already-existing town, but that's obvious.

What a new player should do is join one of the following 3 towns: AngelWood, Demacia, or Poseidon. Reason being that they are by far, the 3 most established towns on the server. AngelWood is best for those who do not like PvP and enjoy building above all else. Demacia is for those who like to grind and make money and is also good if you don't like PvP. Poseidon, meanwhile, is great if you enjoy PvP and such.

If you are audacious enough to create your own town, you are going to want to join a nation, as it will provide your town with extra claims that you can use. Each resident in your town contributes 4 chunks of claims that you can use. Joining the largest nation size (The [Name] Realm) will provide another 140 claims to your town. Similarly to towns, here are the nations you want to join: Solidius, Ausfriden, or Trident. Solidius is AngelWood's nation, is by extension good for builders and non-PvPers. Ausfriden is Demacia's nation, and is good for grinders. Trident is Poseidon's nation, great if you like PvP.

A town also has to make sure to pay upkeep, it is automatically taken from the town's bank every day. It is $100 per chunk claimed. Neutrality cost is $25.

Part 2: Gear
For a new player, the ideal setup without SVA's or P2W is a Legendary Helmet with full Slayer Gear (that is netherited) with a Legendary or Mythic sword, a Giant's Chestplate, and good Custom Enchants, these are what are most important: Overload III, grants 6 extra hearts; Speed III, gives Speed III; Tank V, decreases axe damage; Dragonskin III, chance to block arrows, and Hardened III, gives armor better durability.


You've probably seen more experienced players talking about "SVA's," which are items from the promotional crates. They can be saved from season-to-season, and usually have special abilites. They will have a little green thing in their textbox saying "Season Vault Access *checkmark*") Mythic, Legendary, and Ancient items are not SVA's.

As you progress further into the game and make more money or get more cubits, you may be able to afford to buy crate items from other players, or buy crates yourself. As a free-to-play player, my personal setup is a pretty ideal F2P setup as a not-super-longtime player. Arctic Sword, Mythic Bow, Festive Hoe, SpaceX Helmet, Elf Shoes, Giant's Chestplate, Mythic Leggings, Mythic Multitool.

Keep in mind that if you're good enough at PvP, you can jump people in the wild and sell their gear, or use it. This is probably one of the best ways to get good gear if you're free-to-play.

If you decide to become pay-to-win, it's a totally different story for you. As you will have access to lots of cubits and crates, it will be significantly easier to get good gear. If you are new and P2W, you still will not be able to get the absolute best gear, as there are some items that simply will not be obtainable for you. This is the best setup for a new P2W player assuming you're using just SVA items, otherwise it'd be full Mythic Gear with a Strength II sword (lol). Excalibur, Cocktail, Raygun, SpaceX helmet, Festive Chestplate, Tentacles (leggings), and Poseidon/Moon Boots. Yes, Rabbit Feet and Spring Boots are better, but you're realistically not going to get them.

Part 3: Wars
Wars (sieges) are a way of toggling PvP inside of a town to kill players. Peaceful (or neutral) towns are immune to sieges and cannot be attacked.


To start a war, a nation will need to be enemies with a town's nation. If a town is not a member of a nation, you can still start one. Once your nation is enemies, you will need to place a colored banner outside of the town you want to siege. For the siege to start, you will need to go through a siege assembly and score at least 56 points over 10 minutes. For every minute you're within 16 blocks of the siege banner (NOT IN CLAIMS), you will receive 7 points. If you fail to score 56 points in the 10 minutes given, the siege will not start.

Once the siege starts, there will be 50-minute-long battle sessions, which you have to score siege points in. Similarly to assemblies, the main way to score siege points is to gain control of the siege banner, where you have to remain within a 16-block radius of the siege banner for 7 minutes without dying or leaving the vicinity. Once you gain banner control, you will get 10 siege points every 20 seconds. If you kill someone on the opposing side, your side will receive 150 points. The opposing side can also gain banner control and receive the same points at the same rate.

After the battle session ends, you will receive the amount of siege points you scored. You can view a point-total using /sw hud (town name). If the total score is negative, the defenders are winning, if positive, the attackers.

Keep-inventory is enabled in siege zones for anyone with Nation Guard rank or higher (for attackers), and Town Guard rank or higher (for defenders).

Sieges last three days, and Monday-Friday, battle sessions start at 2:10, 6:10 and 10:10 PM PST, on Saturdays and Sundays, 8:10 AM, 11:10 AM, 2:10 PM, and 6:10 PM PST.

Whichever side has the most total points at the end of the siege wins. If the defenders win, they will win the warchest's money and will receive it by placing a chest outside of their town, the warchest is calculated like this: 7500n = w assuming n = chunks. If the attackers win, they get 4500n dollars by placing a chest outside the town, and can occupy the town by placing another colored banner outside of the town.

Part 4: Making Money

The best way to make money consistently is to use spawner farms. Similar to survival, if you get a sell wand and a lot of chests with hoppers, you can make BANK of off this.

To make the most amount of money, at the moment, are Enderman and Villager spawners, as both make about $10 per mob, albeit, they're also the two most expensive spawners in the shop.

At the end of each month, the 5 towns that had made the most money within that month's timespan are rewarded with cubits and champions score. Every town leader of the top 5 will receive 1 champion score, and will appear next to their name in tab. As for cubits, the leader of the #1 town will receive 50 cubits, #2 will receive 40, #3 receives 30, #4 gets 25, and #5 gets 15.
Part 5: Important Rules

The next two rules you're about to read are some of the most commonly broken rules I've seen that can result in warnings and bans.
Do not kill anybody who has joined in the past 72 hours, use /player (player name) to see when they first joined the server.
Trapping in claims is not allowed.


Part 6: Events
There are three main events that occur daily: LPS, Boss, and ManaPond.


LPS occurs 3 times a day, every 3 hours, the first at 7 AM PST, then another at 10 AM PST, and one more at 1 PM PST. LPS is a PvP event that stands for Last Player Standing. As the title suggests, it is an FFA PvP arena. You do not lose items as the game will provide you a kit. The kit is a diamond helmet, iron chestplate, iron leggings, diamond boots, a diamond sword, 8 normal golden apples, and 16 steaks. The final 3 players alive receive rewards. 1st place receives a Legendary Key and $75,000. 2nd place gets an Ancient Key and $50,000, and 3rd place receives $25,000. To join LPS, you just have to do /LPS join.

Boss occurs usually about once every 2 hours with a few 1-hour and 3-hour stints. The bosses have 2500 health and can drop exclusive items. The best items are the Giant's Chestplate, Spider Bow, Hellhound Helmet, Magical Book, and Deep Ocean Scythe. These items can do special things and have special properties and are typically some of the best common alternatives to SVA's. To go to Boss arena, do /warp boss.

ManaPond is an event that occurs every 3 hours all-day and can give a chance for you to catch all kinds. With a fishing rod. You can catch Ancient Keys, Magical Success Dust, Custom Enchantment Books, Blocks of Ores, and much more. To go to ManaPond, do /warp pond.

Undiny this is super good. Love it. Sad you did forget horizon but understand it is newer. Also I am working toward helping new players and allowing them to join our town of Phoenix. I think us in the realm could do a better job of welcoming and developing players to grow the player base.

Here is where things will start to get more subjective and interesting. You're gonna want to know who you can and cannot trust here, so to help new players, I will provide a brief description of most players you will often encounter in one way or another. It's up to you to decide to trust him/her.


LucArtichaut: PvPer, #1 on kills leaderboard, will kill you if he wants
TeamJacob: Moderator+, co-leader of AngelWood
SkyDieGame: Moderator+, leader of AngelWood
IGLSteph: Leader of Horizon and Phoenix, rarely PvPs
WedoSnipes (currently known as DARTH_WEDO): Does do some PvP, hasn't as of recent, has lots of gear
Bl4ck_Cr0ss: Grinds a lot, does not PvP or anything like that, very chill dude
Pete3e: Same as above
Poppycon: Kills lots of people in wild, grinds a lot
Ara_Olla: Leader of Gordon, does not PvP, mostly builds
almondemilk: Similar to above
Pharqoh: Grinds and builds a lot, gives away a lot of money
Whiteslmao: Is decent at PvP but mostly sticks to grinding
undiny: Mostly PvPs

I agree with most of this except the 1st one. You just promote horrible towns at this point brother... These. towns don't care about new players and only care about people who have the most loot, or knowledge. They don't take time out of their gameplay to teach them anything which is a massive issue for new players finding it hard to cope with the inflated economy. Let's take an example from your text, Poseidon is a good town for pvp / sieges due to there being NO COMP, the server isn't going to be fun pvp wise if there is only 1 town with the strongest stuff doing sieges on little towns and they are allied to other strong towns.

What's the solution to this you all may be asking? Well... Mr Dacon should do a unban all! Well so what if Mr Dacon does an unban all?!?!?!!!!!!

I get to get unbanned!!!!!!!!

edit: for those wondering why I left Horizon and Phoenix out, as far as I have observed, they do not provide a path upward quite like Poseidon/Trident, AngelWood/Soldius, or Ausfriden/Demacia, which is important for player development.
