I remember when they said they were gonna do another run and record it and since then they've never been online again. It is most likely cheated since the previous records (I think they were 9:01) were already pretty optimized

Unless they found some skip that no one knows about, the time is not possible. What Raptide said covers most of it. Therefore it is likely that he cheated on his run.
